UB Chair IPO launches the 5th Pre-doctoral Scholarship in Precision Oncology 2026

The UB Chair IOP has opened the call for applications for the 5th Pre-doctoral Scholarship in Precision Oncology, aimed at physicians from the Clínic Barcelona Comprehensive Cancer Center (4CB) who do not yet hold a PhD. This initiative seeks to promote multidisciplinary research projects and is endowed with €15,000 for a duration of 1 to 2 years. Applications may be submitted from April 16 to May 15, 2026, with the final decision expected in June.

The Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and the TIC Salut Social Foundation, together with MIT Critical Data, are promoting in Barcelona the second edition of the GenAI Hackathon applied to the healthcare field.

The event offers an initial day featuring inspiring talks by specialists, followed by a two-day Hackathon in which participants work intensively to solve real challenges in the healthcare sector.

A new international study shows that the antibody-drug conjugate trastuzumab deruxtecan halves the risk of invasive recurrence in patients with high-risk early-stage HER2+ breast cancer.

The DESTINY-Breast05 trial, coordinated in Spain by SOLTI and with prominent participation from Clínic Barcelona, compared T-DXd with the standard treatment T-DM1 in patients with residual disease after surgery. After three years of follow-up, T-DXd showed a significant clinical benefit, positioning itself as the future reference treatment in this context. The safety profile is consistent with previous studies and requires specific monitoring due to the risk of interstitial lung disease.

  • 1st Edition of the GenAI Health Hack
  • 24 accredited training activities: Commitment to continuous education and professional development in oncology.
  • 1 endorsed position statement: Possibility of influencing policies or practices based on scientific evidence and clinical knowledge.
  • Endorsement/Organization of 3 Pre-doctoral Scholarship Calls (80,000 €): 4 winning students (3 women and 1 man). It promotes gender equality and providing financial support to young researchers to carry out their thesis.
