History
Aleix Prat was appointed senior lecturer at the University of Barcelona in February 2020, just before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. With this new role, Aleix intended to significantly impact the university through a strong and transformative project.
At the time, the university sought to drive the creation of private-sector funded chairs. Meanwhile, Aleix, together with Josep Alcaraz and Ramon Estiarte, two professionals and friends working very closely with him, identified the opportunity to create a space dedicated to training and research in precision oncology. This shared vision was the driving force behind the creation of the Innovation in Precision Oncology Chair.
The Chair was conceived as an effort to foster innovation in cancer treatment, prepare future generations of oncologists, and at the same time consolidate academic and scientific leadership in a constantly evolving field. This project represents Aleix, Josep and Ramon’s commitment to excellence and advancement in Precision Oncology, with the aim of creating a lasting impact on academia and clinicians.
