Institutional Presentation
DR. ALEIX PRAT
In oncology, the application of precision medicine implies that decisions related to diagnosis, treatment, clinical trials and translational research are based on the specific genomic and molecular characteristics of each patient's cancer. For oncologists, it is becoming imperative to delve deeper into areas such as molecular biology, genetics, genomics, clinical and translational research, as well as the development of new targeted therapies.
The raison d’être of the UB Chair is therefore to respond to these growing needs, and the Chair is aimed at preparing oncologists of the present and future to lead the implementation of precision medicine that will improve both the quality of life and the prognosis of cancer patients.
In addition, the Chair seeks to be a reference in the comprehensive training of oncologists, not only through the acquisition of technical knowledge, but also by developing their capacity to integrate precision medicine into daily clinical practice. Interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation are key pillars of the Chair, fostering synergies between researchers, clinicians and other disciplines to drive new advances in cancer treatment and diagnosis.
Finally, the Chair aims to position itself as a leader in clinical and translational research, being a bridge between scientific discovery and its application in medical practice, helping to generate global advances in oncology that transform patient care.
